Reinsurance/Longevity Specialist

A global reinsurer is looking for a nearly or newly qualified actuary to join the Longevity Pricing team.
Working with teams across the world, you’ll be helping to develop the mortality improvement model, longevity pricing principles and methodology and partnering with business development teams and marketing to support new initiatives.

Ideally you’ll have solid insurance or reinsurance experience, research or assumption setting experience, asset intensive or longevity pricing experience or pension risk transfer experience.

London based.

Business Development Actuary (or CFA)

An exciting start-up is looking for an experienced actuary/CFA to join their growing team looking at DB scheme transactions. The role will primarily focus on new business origination and development, although there will be opportunities to be involved across the business. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation in UK pensions.

Ideally you’ll have experience in bulk annuity transfers either from a pensions/investment consultancy or at an insurance company. 

The role will involve marketing and originating new transaction opportunities; building and managing strong relationships with clients and managing transactions through to execution. 

Based in London (and at home). Salary is varied as they’re keen to get the right person to join.

Head of Management Reporting (Director level)

I’m working exclusively with one of the UK’s flagship insurance companies to find a senior finance specialist. This brand new position will play a vital part in the future of their reporting capability and become increasingly important in the years ahead.

This person will need to be capable of driving the right business outcomes, with the vision to meet the challenges ahead and who can act as the lynch-pin in gaining commercial insights from the reporting results.

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Experience of operating at C-suite level – comfortable working with senior stakeholders across the business and able to lead large teams of global resources to successful project outcomes.
  • Someone who understands the technical detail but who can translate that into a broader, more strategic action plan (probably with an actuarial background or similar).
  • A Director/Junior Partner at a consultancy or someone doing a similar role within an equally large and complex organisation.
  • With strong project management ability – someone who is comfortable working on multiple strategic projects and has a record of on-time implementation success.
  • Someone with ambition and strong personal career plans and who is looking for their next step.

M&A/Pricing/Special Projects Actuary – closed

A fast-growing consolidator is looking to hire a qualified life actuary to help take them from start-up to the next phase. Having done several deals last year, they are hoping to attract someone with excellent technical skills to support both the M&A/pricing and finance teams in a wide ranging Special Projects role.
Ideally you’ll have consulting, reinsurance and/or M&A experience, good all round technical skills (Excel), strong communication skills/commercial outlook and the desire/ability to get stuck into a range of different task as you’d expect within a start-up type environment.

The company is very small at the moment and although the Group HQ is in London, you can be based anywhere in the UK or Europe. The focus in the next year or so will be on European deals so any language skills are also v useful. The salary should be up to £100-120k with a bonus of 20%.

Re-insurance Pricing Actuary – Bermuda – closed

A PE-funded and rapidly growing long-term insurer offering reinsurance on fixed annuity contracts, seeks a dynamic and proactive individual to join their actuarial team. This is a new position not associated with a work permit renewal.

• Developing pricing models for potential flow reinsurance transactions
• Producing analyses of the profitability and risk profile of deals and recommending appropriate solutions
• Support the onboarding of business into management and financial reporting areas
• Develop, maintain, and enhance pricing tools and models
Credentials, Experience and Other Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or related field.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), or equivalent qualification of other Actuarial professional organization preferred
• 6+ years of experience working in the annuity insurance industry
• Experience with fixed rate and indexed annuities strongly preferred
• Experience with actuarial projection and valuation software
• Ability to interact with internal senior management and client company management
• Excellent oral and written English language skills
• Ability to effectively participate in, and help foster, a team-based work environment
• An ability to set and manage priorities in a changing work environment is essential

Director/Associate Director, ALM – Hong Kong

A global insurer is looking for Director, Associate Director and Senior Manager level specialists with capital management/optimisation and ALM experience. You’ll be joining an established team looking at high level, strategic decision making and providing 2nd line support to the various business units in the region. 

Focusing on the development of derivative solutions and structuring, candidates will ideally come from a similar team at an insurer or a solutions/structuring team at a bank or asset manager. Solvency II/economic capital experience is ideal. 

You will also be required to be hands on re project work, presentations, product design, structuring corporate transactions from a capital perspective, restructuring and reinsurance.

Institutional Solutions / ALM Solutions Structurer

A global reinsurer is looking to build a team in London focusing on the development of structured solutions.

These strategic transactions include capital management, financing, strategic risk transfer and last but not least, the reinsurance of new savings products.

This division’s function is to deliver the following:

  • To develop structured solutions, pricing, risk assessment, and project management service for the institutional clients of the group.
  • Day-to-day pricing services, training and marketing to the group’s sales network of investment products and hedging solutions across asset classes: Equities, Rates, Credit, Cross-Assets (formerly known as “hybrids”), “Alternative Solutions”.
  • Design and develop new products for distribution to the clients of the group.
  • Work with clients to reverse engineer bespoke solutions to their ALM requirements, then co-ordinate internal resources to deliver product that matches this requirement.

Ideally you’ll have several years experience within Insurance, Banking or Asset Management; significant experience in creating bespoke structured solutions for Institutions; significant experience in creating multi asset portfolio solutions for clients; experience in an ALM role; strong technical knowledge of financial products, derivatives and currently working in either a structuring, financial engineering, or quant role.

Initially there will be two senior hires and one junior hire.
