Senior Manager, Risk Modelling/Aggregation – London
We are working exclusively with the HQ of a European insurer to find an Actuary (or qualified by experience/CFA) to work as part of the Capital Steering and Measurement (CSM) team within Group Risk. The successful candidate will lead and oversee the modelling of insurance risks, the development of the internal aggregation approach and maintain the Group Stress and Scenario Testing framework.

Senior Manager, Actuarial Reserving & Methodology (closed)
We’re working exclusively with a large European insurance company to find an experienced Actuarial Reserving and Methodology Senior Manager. Sitting in the Group Actuarial team, the role will be responsible for reserving adequacy across multiple bases.
Key areas of contribution will be:
- Management of assumptions, methodology and reserving in respect of actuarial risks (lapse, mortality, expense).
- Economic assumption methodology and review credit, yield curve, implied volatilities, stress testing.
- Regular experience analyses, assumption setting across multiple bases (Solvency II, IFRS17, Bermudan EBS).
- Demographic risk calibrations, stress testing and capital analysis.
Ideally, you’ll be based in Germany, Dublin or London and there is a lot of flex re working remotely with some travel to their main offices in the locations above.
Key is strong 2nd line/Group experience together with very strong assumption setting and methodology skills. This is not a process/BAU role but one that requires deep technical understanding, the ability to challenge assumptions at BU level and critical thinking.
You will be part of a team reporting to the Senior Director, Reserving & Methodology (who reports to the Chief Actuary) and working alongside other Senior Managers covering ESG, economic assumptions, demographic assumptions, etc. There are 2/3 more junior people in the team too.

Senior Portfolio Manager, Reinsurance – London (closed)
Orange Malone is working with a global reinsurer that is looking for a Portfolio Manager with reinsurance experience. Reporting to the Head of Investment Solutions, you’ll be part of a small team which leads on the end to end deal execution from the investment side.
You’ll be working closely with the client to develop the strategy within the investment guidelines (IMA). Once the portfolio is constructed, the deal is done and the cash is in, the PM is responsible for investing it in the public credit markets. You will be overseeing 3/4 deals at any one time but it will be a very close collaborative team.
You don’t have to be an expert from day one but the key skill is good ALM/LDI and ideally reinsurance experience. Any BPA, PM or credit experience is also useful. It’s not a quant role but will involve using and understanding the models.

Capital Management Actuary – London/Scotland
I’m working with a very large life insurer that is looking for an actuary for a project based capital management role. You’ll be joining the Commercial Finance team and focusing on balance sheet management, liquidity, capital optimisation and ALM issues.
The team is currently about 10 strong and split between Scottish and London offices (plus plenty of home working).
Overall the role will focus on ALM and liquidity, capital efficiency, exposure management, hedging, matching adjustment, etc. It covers both asset and liability side and is wholly project based NOT BAU. The team is mostly made up of actuaries and you’ll be interacting with other parts of the business and any investment banks/asset managers/consultants that want to pitch their Solutions to the team.
It mostly focuses on a large annuity book (£18bn) but you’ll also look after the with profit fund which focuses on dividend recommendations, etc.
Ideally the person will be a qualified actuary with experience of capital management, etc, plus the ability to get involved in the technical detail but then communicate that to senior management. They’ll consider people with strong financial reporting but not a lot of capital management experience but the key is an enquiring mind and good communication skills.

Equity Release Specialist
I’m working with the UK’s largest later life lender and they’re looking for two or three people to join their team in a number of different project roles. Essentially, they’re PE backed and sit between the lenders and the retail side, creating innovative products and distributing them to market.
The senior role would need prior equity release mortgage experience but that could be in marketing, product development, modelling, pricing, investment, reporting – any number of different areas.
The more junior role could be someone that would like to move into an exciting and vibrant business area and who’d like to work in a project based role with loads of senior stakeholder management, both on the client side and internally.

Chief Risk Officer, UK – London (closed)
I’m working on an exclusive search mandate with an international specialty insurer and re-insurer.
Due to massive growth, they have been asked by the PRA to appoint a UK CRO to be part of the senior leadership team. You will be responsible for the following three risk pillars: Insurance Risk, ERM and Financial Risk.

A global reinsurer is looking for a Chief Pricing Actuary to cover it’s Asian businesses. Covering 12 different jurisdictions with varying degrees of market maturity, the CPA will be leading the development of pricing strategy and providing both global and regional leadership regarding the technical direction of their global pricing strategy, methodology and guidance.

Re-insurance Pricing Actuary – Bermuda – closed
A PE-funded and rapidly growing long-term insurer offering reinsurance on fixed annuity contracts, seeks a dynamic and proactive individual to join their actuarial team. This is a new position not associated with a work permit renewal.
Responsibilities
• Developing pricing models for potential flow reinsurance transactions
• Producing analyses of the profitability and risk profile of deals and recommending appropriate solutions
• Support the onboarding of business into management and financial reporting areas
• Develop, maintain, and enhance pricing tools and models
Credentials, Experience and Other Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or related field.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), or equivalent qualification of other Actuarial professional organization preferred
• 6+ years of experience working in the annuity insurance industry
• Experience with fixed rate and indexed annuities strongly preferred
• Experience with actuarial projection and valuation software
• Ability to interact with internal senior management and client company management
• Excellent oral and written English language skills
• Ability to effectively participate in, and help foster, a team-based work environment
• An ability to set and manage priorities in a changing work environment is essential

Director/Associate Director, ALM – Hong Kong
A global insurer is looking for Director, Associate Director and Senior Manager level specialists with capital management/optimisation and ALM experience. You’ll be joining an established team looking at high level, strategic decision making and providing 2nd line support to the various business units in the region.
Focusing on the development of derivative solutions and structuring, candidates will ideally come from a similar team at an insurer or a solutions/structuring team at a bank or asset manager. Solvency II/economic capital experience is ideal.
You will also be required to be hands on re project work, presentations, product design, structuring corporate transactions from a capital perspective, restructuring and reinsurance.

Institutional Solutions / ALM Solutions Structurer
A global reinsurer is looking to build a team in London focusing on the development of structured solutions.
These strategic transactions include capital management, financing, strategic risk transfer and last but not least, the reinsurance of new savings products.
This division’s function is to deliver the following:
- To develop structured solutions, pricing, risk assessment, and project management service for the institutional clients of the group.
- Day-to-day pricing services, training and marketing to the group’s sales network of investment products and hedging solutions across asset classes: Equities, Rates, Credit, Cross-Assets (formerly known as “hybrids”), “Alternative Solutions”.
- Design and develop new products for distribution to the clients of the group.
- Work with clients to reverse engineer bespoke solutions to their ALM requirements, then co-ordinate internal resources to deliver product that matches this requirement.
Ideally you’ll have several years experience within Insurance, Banking or Asset Management; significant experience in creating bespoke structured solutions for Institutions; significant experience in creating multi asset portfolio solutions for clients; experience in an ALM role; strong technical knowledge of financial products, derivatives and currently working in either a structuring, financial engineering, or quant role.
Initially there will be two senior hires and one junior hire.
