I wanted to flag up the number of senior female candidates I speak to regularly who would be ideal for senior roles I have but who deselect themselves because they just don’t have enough fuel in their tank.
What with looking after kids, which as any parent knows, is a full time job in itself (at whichever age they – the issues just change, they don’t go away!) and/or having caring responsibilities, it just seems that there is no energy left for the go-getting career woman alter-ego.
So I guess this is a message to anyone that recognises that they have someone like that in their lives – help them, give them time so that they can focus on what’s important to them and their careers.
As one candidate recently said – he’s a great father and husband but at the end of the day, his work comes first…… Something/someone has to give, please don’t let it be your wife!
